PERMANENT OUTDOOR
INSTALLATION
Basing House, a well-known venue in Shoreditch, London, where we already have a permanent installation, presented us with an exciting and challenging project: to create an outdoor digital billboard within a specified budget. The client was highly satisfied with the outcome, noting that the billboard has become a valuable asset for their venue. It now serves as a key feature for event organizers, helping them with event promotion in one of London’s most vibrant neighborhoods. To achieve this, we proposed a high-impact digital signage solution using a screen powered by two ultra-short-throw (UST) projectors. This setup required innovative problem-solving and technical expertise, as UST projectors demand precise placement for optimal results. Additionally, we designed and assembled custom weatherproof enclosures to protect the projectors from environmental elements while maintaining proper ventilation and accessibility.

The project required a seamless blend of creativity and practicality to address both functional and environmental challenges effectively. We began by providing a complimentary, detailed proposal, complete with a precise 3D visualization, to give the client a clear vision of the final result. Once approved, we shifted our focus to addressing potential challenges, ensuring the entire digital display system functioned flawlessly.
Our solution included designing an Arduino-powered automated on/off system for user convenience, integrating a remote-control system with a live camera feed for real-time monitoring, and ensuring smooth integration of all hardware components. Rigorous testing and troubleshooting followed, factoring in environmental conditions and projector performance to guarantee reliability. During installation, we fine-tuned the projector angles and distances with millimeter precision and securely mounted them using custom-engineered steel brackets. These brackets offered superior stability and durability, surpassing standard mounting solutions.
