  • OVERVIEW

In collaboration with Anywhereelse Events, NDVSN was tasked with creating a custom visual show for the headline act Birds of Mind, hosted at Outernet London venue. This project unfolded over the course of a month, with around two weeks of actual production time — a timeline that demanded both creative speed and technical precision. The visual experience, built using Unreal Engine and TouchDesigner, was designed to unfold live in sync with the DJ set, delivering a responsive journey across the massive screen installation at Outernet’s main room.

Concept &

Visual Direction

While the artists themselves weren’t directly involved in the process, the creative direction was developed closely with the event organizer. The overarching narrative revolved around cyclical transformation, blending natural and surreal digital environments to echo the emotional progression of the music. The visuals were structured as a four-part arc. The show opened with a "Big Bang" sequence — a hyper-bright sun-like sphere emerged from the void, expanding and revealing a set of meteor-like objects orbiting around it. This cosmic zoom-out set the tone for the show: vast, elemental, and powerful. The second act introduced a symbolic cage — a glowing structure suspended in space, evoking feelings of constraint and existential pressure. This was timed to coincide with a darker shift in the music’s mood. The third act was a blossoming of nature — a fiery, overgrown forest illuminated by a threatening red light; a surreal AI-generated flower with morphing, liquid-like petals moving in sync with the beat, and mossy rocks and plant life emerging from digital textures, slowly taking over the frame. The final scene was a particle-driven collapse, dissolving the established world and resetting the stage — a return to emptiness and possibility, completing the loop.

TECHNICAL

APPROACH

This project relied on a hybrid workflow:

Unreal Engine powered the 3D modeling and animation pipeline, providing the rich visual fidelity and real-time rendering needed for immersive scale visuals.

TouchDesigner was used minimally, only for one point-cloud-based visual that added texture and movement to a specific moment.

All content was designed to meet the technical specifications of the Outernet London screen setup, ensuring seamless playback across their main screen.

The show was performed live, with visuals synced manually via VJing in response to the music’s energy and pacing — no timecode, just real-time responsiveness.

  • TIMELINE &
  • PRODUCTION

We had approximately four weeks from concept to delivery, but only two weeks of active production time due to feedback cycles and scheduling. Meeting this tight deadline was the core challenge of the project.
